Demoss had always look at Pill Bug as a father figure, as a role model. Pill Bug had always felt that Demoss was the son he never had.

  Pill Bug's disappearance had really taken its toll on Demoss. He couldn't eat. He couldn't sleep. He couldn't even crank. Each passing moment Demoss felt a little piece of himself dying. Pill Bug had to be found.

  Demoss was pretty upset so just getting up enough energy to search for Pill Bug was asking a lot. Demoss decided instead of helping the others look, he would instead go to Lexington and go to the horse track. That would make him feel better.
