It was considered to be one the tightest competitions at the Pill Bug Olympics and it certainly lived up to the hype. The Super Smash Bros competion was fierce, but in the end, the Metroid won the gold. It started with eight athletes from all five participating countries. The set up was simple. There would be two rounds. The first round would have two games, the first game between four contestants and the second game against the remaining four contestants. The first and second place finishers from both first round games would come together for a final round. The game would be played on a time basis. For anyone not familiar with Super Smash Bros, that means the winner is the person who, in a set amount of time, can through his opponents off the edge. The brackets were filled out randomly and the first game found Be of Butenia, Kristine of Marlyando, Eric of Otros, and Chinsey of Campbella squaring off. The second round had Troy of Butenia, Stephen of Marylando, Aubrey of Otros, and Pill Bug of Buggland.
The rules stated that if you did make it to the second round you could not be the same character as you were in the first round. This meant the players couldn't play with their favorite character in the first round if they wanted to use them in the second round. The first game had Be as Kirby taking first and Kristine as Captain Falcon taking second. The second game had Stephen as Link taking first and Troy as Captain Falcon taking second. So the final match was set. It would be two from team Butenia against two from team Marylando. Be decided to take Captain Falcon for this round. The character of Captain Falcon wasn't Be's best, Kirby was, but she had already used him. Captain Falcon had gotten two people to the final round so it was a safe decision. Kristine went with Samus who was by far her best character. Stephen went with Jigglypuff and Troy went with Luigi.
The final round was intense. Before the final screen came on it was pretty unclear who would win. Well it was pretty sure it wasn't going to be Troy cause he played like a senior citizen but the other three were all about even. Then the final reselts were annouced: Broze went to Stephen of Marylando, Silver to Be of Butenia, and Gold to Kristine of Marylando.
