Running Slow

Slowing Down the Pace

by Slam Dunkle

Pill Bug   You haven't seen an odd event until you've witnessed the Running Slow event at the Pill Bug Olympics. It is like watching a race in slow motion. The concept is rather bizarre in itself. The winner isn't the first person to cross the finish line but the last.
The contestants for this race were Grace and Lily of Butenia, Aaron and JB of Marylando, Jacob and Janelle of Cambella, Emily of Otros, and Pill Bug of Buggland. Each contestant had to run but as slow as possible from what equated to one side of a football field to another. This event is also viewed by judges. These judges serve so that if a person isn't running then they are disqualified. You can't walk or stop, you must actually run the entire time.
The event started out and Lily took a commanding lead, which in this case is bad cause you want to be the last across the finish line, not the first. Grace and Janelle were neck and neck for second. Pill Bug looked more like a snail than a pill bug rumbling off the starting line slower than anyone. Lily ended up crossing the finish line first. Grace, Janelle, JB, and Jacob were next. Finally Aaron crossed for the bronze. Then Emily crossed for the silver. Almost and entire hour later Pill Bug crossed and set a new Pill Bug Olympic record. He broke the previous record he had set in 1992.
