Day-Night 24
Sleepy Heads
by Walking Andy
You wouldn't put the Day-Night 24 event at the Pill Bug Olympics
on a list of the most exciting events. That is unless you find watching people sleep
all day and all night exciting. The Day-Night 24 is pretty much nothing more
than both the All Day 16 and the All Night 8 events combined. They are a little
less rough though on the distractions. Usually there is only two or three
per event. Just staying asleep for 24 hours is challenging enough.
Competing in the Day-Night 24 this year were Shell of Butenia, Jacob of
Campbella, JB and Ryan of Marylando, Eric or Otros, and Pill Bug of Buggland.
Ryan of Marylando was the interesting character. Predicted to medal in all three
sleeping events he fell short in both the All Day 16 and All Night 8. Right before
the start of the Day-Night 24 he had another miscue. Starting to get a bit of
a cold Ryan took some medication. However this medication was illegal cause it
was clearly marked as a medication that could cause drowsiness. This mistake had
Ryan, who actually finished the event in second, disqualified. Making so instead of
three medals, he got none.
The rest of the event went off without a hitch. Eric from Otros was the
eventual winner. Ryan finished second but was disqualified so Jacob who finished
third got the silver. Pill Bug who woke up thinking he had just missed a second
sleeping medal did end up receiving the bronze. Ryan discussed his disappointment.
"Yeah I am really disappointed in the turn of events here." said Ryan.
"I thought I would at least win two medals but to walk away with none is
really upsetting. Thank God I have a lot of guns back at home to cheer me up."
