1000 Spin
Spin Upset
by Slam Dunkle
Of all the events at the Pill Bug Olympics, probably one if not
the hardest event to win would be the 1000 Spin. To be able to spin
around in a circle 1000 times is mind boggling. Most people spin around
ten times and they get dizzy whereas these athletes have to do it 1000 times.
This 1000 Spin does mark one of the biggest upsets in recent Pill Bug
Olympic history. Coming in everyone believed Mike of Marylando and
Cory and Campbella would be the two battling it out. They were, but they
ended up battling it out for silver. Out of nowhere came Troy from Butenia
with the fastest recorded time ever in a 1000 Spin.
The athletes competing in the 1000 Spin were Troy and Becky of Butenia,
Lydia of Otros, Mike and Dixon of Marylando, Cory of Campbella, and
Pill Bug of Buggland. The 1000 Spin is known for usually awarding a medal
or two to people who don't even finish. Since that is the case, it goes without
saying that most the athletes don't come close to going around 1000 times.
This time, however, all three medal winners, Troy, Mike, and Cory, all
finished their 1000 spins. They were also the only three to finish. The first
to drop out was Dixon. He didn't make it past 80 spins which begs one to
ask why he was in the event at all. The only person who actually puked
was Lydia of Otros who dropped out second. Becky and Pill Bug both made it
about 400 spins before falling. With 900 spins in the bag it was obvious Troy
started to waiver but in the end he had what it took and came out on top. This
was the first time someone other than Cory or Mike won a spinning event, other
than the Sit & Spin, in over three years. Afterwards
I asked Troy about his victory.
"Man I am so dizzy," said Troy. "I didn't think I had a chance against Mike and
Cory. I think I am going to be sick."
