Sit & Spin
Twist and Shout
by Walking Andy
When your spinning you have a tendency to get dizzy and fall
down. So if you are already down then the falling is no big deal so you
should be able to just keep spinning and spinning, right? That is the
idea behind the Sit & Spin event at the Pill Bug Olympics. The person
who can spin around on a little plastic wheel the longest wins.
The Sit & Spin Event has always been a very popular one. You see
people dizzy as can be but they just keep spinning and spinning until they
can't stop. They stop for a variety of reasons when they do. Some stop
to throw up. Some stop because they lose consciousness. Some stop because
they have given themselves such a bad headache they feel they have too.
One person actually stopped because they died.
No deaths among these athletes though, Megan of Butenia, Amanda of Otros,
Mike and Sopha of Marylando, Cory and Jacob of Campbella, and Pill Bug of
Buggland. There were no clear cut favorites going in. Mike and Cory
were favored in other spinning events but had always struggled at the
Sit & Spin. The same held true here with both finishing out of medal
contention. The first to falter was Amanda. She disappeared after about 10 minutes
of spinning. After an hour the only three remaining and guaranteed of a medal
were Jacob, Pill Bug, and Megan. Megan fell unconscious about an hour and a half in.
Pill Bug seeing Megan had stopped also stopped forgetting Jacob was still going.
This left only Jacob who didn't notice that Pill Bug had stopped and kept
going by himself for another 15 minutes.
